Poker Player Profile: Erica Schoenberg
Erica Schoenberg makes her trade not only as a professional poker online player, but as a pro blackjack player, for which she studied with a member of the infamous MIT blackjack team, made famous both in the bestselling book ‘Bringing Down the House,’ which as many likely know later became a film starring Kevin Spacey. Beginning her career as a model and a pro volleyball athelete, the reasons for Schoenberg’s online poker nicknames ‘Blackjack Babe’ and ‘Poker Babe’ seem quite clear. Though she has as of yet claimed no distinctive wins on the major poker online tournament circuit, Schoenberg’s cash game winning and deep money finishing in events such as the World Series of Poker and the World Poker Tour suggest that her big win debut might not be too far on down the line. In addition to her appearances on the Season 4 Ladies Night event of the World Poker Tour, she recently appeared in CBS’s Ultimate Blackjack Tour. Though she makes her living playing poker and blackjack, Schoenberg doesn’t let the thought of the cards completely rule her world: in fact, she makes a point to not let them do so. In addition to her interest in gambling, she enjoys watching college basketball and Ultimate Fighting. She is also notably engaged to fellow major poker pro David Benyamine.
