Fox News received unofficial word that Florida voted for Bush. Due to the fact that Fox is widely considered a respectable media company, other big news channels like CNN followed suit. This led to Al Gore’s defeat in Florida, and consequently the candidate lost the presidential race. Such example illustrated how the media can persuade and dissuade people.
